  • Raw Materials & Ingredients

Between 15,000 and 20,000 attendees are expected at the 2009 HBA show.

GEA Liquid Processing

We are process integrators. GEA Liquid Processing business group is dedicated to supplying process integration services and liquid processing solutions. As part of the GEA Group we have access to some of the world's leading-edge processing equipment from within the organization and a wealth of experience on which to call. More importantly, we understand fundamentally the processes involved in liquid processing, the capabilities of the equipment employed and the engineering that is required to ensure that they operate at optimum capacity and lowest maintenance but with the flexibility required to suit the customers' needs. It's this experience and knowledge that allows us to add value to any project large or small.

At the 2009 HBA show we will feature our range of high pressure homogenizers which is used in the personal care industries to obtain homogeneous and stable product emulsions. High pressure homogenizers can effectively reduce the particle size down to nanometers with uniform dimensional distribution, forcing the product through a special homogenizing valve using high pressure energy through fluid-dynamic effects like shear, turbulence, cavitations, acceleration and impact. The cosmetic industries often require the stabilization of emulsions containing different oils as well as efficient dispersion to eliminate water phase separation. We have an extensive experience with cosmetic and personal care applications including: moisture / beauty / cosmetic creams, perfumes, soaps (liquid/bar), lotions, toothpaste, nail varnishes, shampoo, and liposomes. GEA Liquid Processing will also introduce the advanced Batch Formula™ Mixing Systems which is probably the most versatile powder liquid mixing system available today. Due to the unique patented dynamic stator system, powder-liquid mixing and homogenization is now possible in one unit operation, going from low shear to high shear with a single input. Because the powder introduction point is below the liquid surface in the mixing vessel, instant wetting of the ingredients is achieved for even the most difficult pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and personal care applications. The Batch Formula™ can mix and process products with up to 80% solids. The high efficient mixing device placed in the bottom of the tank is the key to a uniform homogeneous mixing of most products in the process unit. Aside from the abovementioned unit operations GEA Liquid Processing will also feature our CIP, process integration and process automation philosophy which originates from our roots in and around the double seat valve (block and bleed) technology and the pocket free piping design.
