Blending goals:

  • Reduced capital cost.
  • Reduced (hygienic) space requirement.
  • Minimized downtime associated with change over of liquids during production.
  • Minimized product loss.

Manufacturers of liquid health, personal care and pharmaceutical products require a high degree of flexibility in both the production and filling/packing of the products.

To solve this problem GEA Liquid Processing (GEA Diessel) have developed and delivered a technical solution leading to a significant improvement in the manufacturing of liquid blends. The result being a flexible and cost-effective in-line blending system that feature precise measuring technology, materials-handling technology and control systems. The in-line blending units are delivered as skid mounted ready for operation systems which can be installed right in front of the product filling line.

Only the direct supply of raw materials such as active pharmaceutical ingredients (API's), flavors, and base material to the "unit" is required for the start of the production.

Special features:

  • The construction and conception of the system allow both a quick and low loss change-over from product A to product B.
  • The selection of the components enables the making of products with a wide range of different ingredients (wide dosing range).
  • Due to the compact design there is only a little contact area of the finished product and the raw material which minimizes the losses during the product change over.

GEA Liquid Processing installations are designed in such a way that optimal cleaning is ensured. We can even provide a complete CIP (Cleaning-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilization-In-Place) validation protocols for USDA 3A, FDA cGMP and/or ASME BPE installations. Depending on the existing automation infrastructure and/or the customer preference a central or decentralized system, (or a combination of the two) are installed and integrated into plant-wide operation. The GEA Diessel continuous in-line liquid blending systems can be delivered with our advanced product recovery systems.
